Contribute to the design, implementation, and enhancement of Magnet Networks infrastructure. The roll encompasses all areas of network design ranging from the high design to the low level design and physical implementation of the solutions.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement creative solutions to support our customers’ needs
  • Ensure timely delivery of network projects
  • Design and support Core network projects
  • Complete project documentation
  • Participate in “on call” schedules with other members of the team
  • Research and evaluate cutting edge technology for deployment in the network
  • Participate in the design and deployment of Smart City solutions
  • Design and deploy enterprise class wireless solutions
  • Design and deploy multi-site customer solutions
  • Design security solutions for customers

Person Specification Essential Skills & Experience (key competencies) Experience:

  • Have Cisco CCNP or 5 years + equivalent experience
  • Alcatel-Lucent experience is desirable
  • Experience in RGNets or Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience in Castlerock SNMPc and Solarwinds Orion is desirable
  • Experience in DWDM/CWDM technologies is desirable
  • Experience in MPLS
  • Experience in Ruckus, Alcatel Lucent, Aruba, or Ubiquiti wireless solutions
  • ITIL certification is desirable

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Creative problem solving abilities
  • Extensive operational experience with carrier-class routers and switches
  • Extensive routing protocol troubleshooting skills (BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, PPPoE, GRE, VRRP, LACP, RADIUS, SNMP, Spanning tree
  • Extensive knowledge of BGP, OSPF, DMVPN and other routing protocols
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team
  • Practical configuration experience of firewalls, Multi Site WANs, Wireless access points, layer 2 and layer 3 switches, routers
  • Strong multitasker with the capability to drive projects
